Symptoms (Tünet Együttes)

Wednesday, 21st June 2017 13.00 – 15.00 (60 min per game)
Thursday, 22nd June 2017 10.00 – 15.00 (60 min per game)

The groups leave in every 20 minutes.

thesymptoms_corvinusSomewhere Over the Population is a theatrical adventure game based on the system of „point and click” computer games.  This special game takes place in the hidden corners of the building of Corvinus University. 6 stations, 6 locations, 6 special characters. Groups of 6 participants are given clues in order to get from one location to another, where they have to solve logical, skill-based and creative tasks. Somewhere Over the Population is not a competition between the groups, it focuses on the common pastime with the use of an unconventional theater technique.

With reference to the context of the conference, the topic of the adventure game is overpopulation. How can we achieve sustainability, while the world population continues to grow? Is it possible to humanely call a halt to one of our strongest instincts, subsistence?

The main character of Somewhere Over the Population is Matthias, the university student who wrote his thesis about the possibilities of regulated decrease of overpopulation.  Following the mysterious disappearance of his thesis, the participants meet the intimidated Matthias at the back of a secluded classroom. He received death threats and his phone has been disabled. He tells the participants that the brutal method which was written in his thesis on a theoretical level starts to become a reality.

Due to the genre of adventure games, Somewhere Over the Population is not focusing on exploring the topic of overpopulation in its depth but to make the participants experience extraordinary theatrical situations combined with special characters and exciting challenges.

Participation is free, pre-registration needed. Registration HERE!

Maximum number of participants per game: 6 persons per group

Ruin-bar party (Closing party)

Friday, 23rd June 2017
16.00 – 20.00h

The Closing party takes place at the Auróra Civil and Community House. It started in the fall of 2014 as a self-sustaining social enterprise that provides space for individuals, groups and non-profit organizations working in different social, political and cultural fields to share their ideas, build new relationships and create new cooperative projects.

The first 1,5 year of Auróra has proven that this model works – there is need for it, and there is a critical mass of well-skilled and committed people who are willing to engage to make it happen. Our aim is now to stabilize our functioning via organizational and infrastructural development, and to focus on community organizing among local inhabitants in the 8th district.

Auróra’s goal is to maintain and develop a self-governing and self-supporting civil and community house run by volunteers, which is home to civil and community initiatives and to actively straighten grassroot-democracy.
